National reporting on WSIS Implementation

The Tunis Agenda for the Information Society was adopted by Heads of State and Government in 2005 during the Second phase of WSIS. It sets a target of 2010 for the formulation and elaboration of sustainable national e-strategies as an integral part of national development plans and poverty reduction strategies (Para 85 of Tunis Agenda). It also encouraged governments, with the participation of all stakeholders and bearing in mind the importance of an enabling environment, to set up a national implementation mechanism (Para 100).
 

On the occasion of the celebration of the second World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on 17 May 2007, the International Telecommunication Union would like to highlight progress on WSIS implementation at the national level through a dedicated web site. The same will provide visibility for country initiatives while also facilitating collaborative efforts to move forward.
 

In order to do so, the ITU encourages countries to provide national reports on WSIS implementation through this online form.
