This FTP site contains working drafts of the ITU-T H.324 series
Recommendations (standards) for multimedia videotelephony and
videoconferencing on PSTN, ISDN, and wireless mobile networks.
This work takes place within Q11/16 of ITU-T, under Rapporteur
Tom Geary of Rockwell, <gearyt@pcmail2.nb.rockwell.com>.  It exists
mainly for the convenience of the experts working on the various
documents.

For contributions and meeting reports related to activities of Q11/16,
as opposed to drafts of the H.324 standards, please refer to

The H.324 suite is a recommendation for real-time voice, data, and
video over switched-circuit networks, including V.34 modems on the 
GSTN (POTS) telephone network, ISDN (H.324 Annex D), and mobile 
wireless connections (H.324 Annex C).  It consists of 5 documents:

	H.324  	Systems
	H.223  	Multiplex
	H.245  	Control
	H.263  	Video codec
	G.723.1	Speech codec

All five of these documents have been decided and approved, and are
in force.

Recommendation G.723 was renumbered to G.723.1 in 1995 to avoid 
confusion with an obsolete Recommendation with the same number.  
Three Annexes to G.723.1 were approved at the SG 15 Meeting in 
May/June 1996.

Readers unfamiliar with the H.324 series are advised to begin with
the H.324 document itself, since this document serves as an
introduction to the other four, as well as calling out functional
requirements for the H.324 system.
