Life quality, social unity and sustainability are being measured by objective and subjective indicators. The European System of Social Indicators (EUSI) documentation defines three goals and each goal lists a set of indicators. Table M.1 – goals of European System of Social Indicators (EUSI) Goal 1: Economic and social progress, improvement of quality of life Promotion of employment – combat unemployment Enhancement of education Use of ICT Improving of public health Social security of people Improvement of personal safety Reduction of environmental pollution and the improvement of environmental protection Goal 2: Strengthening the economic and social cohesion Reduction of regional disparities Equal opportunities for men and women Equal opportunities for disabled people Combat social exclusion and discrimination Encouraging solidarity between people Enhancement of physical connections (transport) Developing Trans‐European Networks (TENs) in areas of energy, transport and telecommunications Goal 3: Sustainable development The third goal is related to the commitment of sustainable development. The challenge of a sustainable Europe is to achieve economic growth based on higher employment rates, less environmental pollution and improved resource efficiency of energy and raw materials. Below is a list of the measuring points for each domain and goal.
