68 OpenSpace Workshops The Big Question: what more can be done to protect children from the potential dangers of Internet use? ICTs have become invaluable in all areas of our lives – but the potential risks they pose, especially to our children, should not be ignored. In the connected world, children are more exposed to threats to their safety and their well-being. Protecting children on-line is a key factor in ensuring safe Internet adoption for future generations. Marking the 2009 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the ITU Secretary-General issued a call for action to all interested stakeholders to promote the adoption of policies and strategies to ensure safe access to online resources for the world's children. This workshop will explore what measures have been put in place in response to the SG’s Call to Action, which of these measures have proved successful and how can we learn from our experiences so far to build robust international frameworks to protect children on-line. The workshop invites policy makers and industry leaders to share their experiences and imagine a safer on-line future. Participants will leave with a shared understanding of national and international challenges in protecting children online, formulate recommendations for effective interventions and launch an amplified call for international action. Wednesday 26.10.2011 14:00-15:30 WorkSpace #2 The Future of Child Online Protection – ITU SG Call to Action OpenSpace Workshop The Big Question: how can mobile phones improve health for everyone? Mobile technologies have reached even the remotest areas of the world. What can they do for health, and how can we ensure that everyone benefits? Participants will check their own health profile, learn what's on the mobile horizon, and explore together what still needs to be done to make \"health in your hands\" a reality for all. Topics covered will include: * What is mobile health? What constitutes the mobile ecosystem for health, and who are the players? * How can innovation and partnerships be managed to allow the ecosystem to grow? * Are there viable business models in the mobile health market? Who will make money and how? * What role should governments play in developing the ecosystem, in encouraging services and reach, or in protecting consumers and industry? * What special challenges does \"health\" pose, and how should these be addressed? Who is responsible? This workshop invites industry leaders, policy makers, innovators, marketing experts and service deliverers to share perspectives and debate their respective roles in ensuring that eHealth/mHealth becomes a universal service. Participants will leave understanding more about the potential of mobile technologies to support health for all. They will explore how policy and industry can work together to nurture the mHealth ecosystem. Wednesday 26.10.2011 14:00-15:30 WorkSpace #1 eHealth in your Hands: Getting there OpenSpace Workshop
