50 Technical Symposium PRESENTATIONS: * Towards a New European ICT Standardisation Policy - Current Status and a Glimpse Into the Future * DVB: Developing Global Television Standards for Today and Tomorrow * Multimedia Applications for Standard IPTV -- ITU-T IPTV Standard Suite in Action ICT standards are recognised as a crucial pillar of the information/knowledge society. But is a new standardisation strategy required in the European ICT sector to avoid losing out to the USA and powerful newcomers like China in the long term? How is the second generation of standards for digital television in Europe being deployed in the environment of increased competition between broadcasters and network operators? How are value-added multimedia applications in areas such e-commerce, e-health, smart-grid, and entertainment benefitting from newly developed ITU-T standards that provide essential functionalities in areas where interoperability is a key? Thursday 27.10.2011 09:00-10:30 LabSpace #4 Standardisation in Practice Technical Symposium Session PRESENTATIONS: * Massive Deployment of Small Coverage Area Cells in the all-IP Wireless System * Interference Study for Cognitive LTE-Femtocell to Opportunistically Access TVWS * Femtocell Coverage Optimization Using Genetic Algorithm Small coverage area cells such as femtocells are expected to be widely deployed in future wireless networks to enhance indoor radio coverage and system capacity in enterprises and hotspots. Such microcell technologies should not just deliver fixed access over a wireless environment but need to interwork with the large scale network. Self-optimizing capabilities for future mobile networks will also be required to provide coverage in enterprise environments through groups of femtocells. And femtocells that cognitively access the white spaces in TV bands could provide promising indoor coverage solutions.
