ITU Telecom World 2009 In Review A panelist stressed that the digital age resulted in far reaching changes in social, political and economic life, with information and communication technologies developing faster than we could have imagined a few decades ago. Children and young people are the early adapters of these technologies, growing up with them and using them. These are integrated in their lives, always present, their lives in the real world and online are one. Businesses, educators, parents and children need to be cooperating closely. Implementation of filters by IT companies is essential, there needs to be legisla-tion, and children need to be aware of the risk. Another panelist underlined that it is not sufficient to have national NGO’s, na-tional governments approaching, these aspects need to be dealt with at an international level.
