ITU Telecom World 2009 In Review a hybrid approach already exists for mobile TV applications (DVBSH standards) – once out of satellite reach and moving indoors for instance then they could make an automatic switch to terrestrial networks. Smart antenna MIMO could be the next technology combining satellite and cellular technologies – GPS function needs to be incorporated into the cellular chip. Once the mobile sta-tion announces the user location to the base station, it turns the antenna to-ward the right direction, thus helping reduce noise and increase capacity.
