October 06 Tuesday 11:00 – 12:30 Session SEC.1 Room B Tackling cyberthreats: towards effective global partnerships No country or organization acting alone can ensure its own cybersecurity; global partnerships are essential to promoting effective cybersecurity in today’s integrated ICT networks. There is a growing need for a coordinated international framework to address the recent growth in and growing sophistication of new and emerging cyberthreats. The day-to-day functioning of the global economy, basic services, health programs and individual activities increasingly rely on efficient and fully operational ICT. KEY QUESTIONS: – How vulnerable are the systems underpinning electronic services and transactions and communications in the global economy and individual well-being? – What are the real risks? – What are the most vulnerable targets? – Did we learn anything from Estonia? – How are international multilateral cooperative mechanisms evolving? – What gaps still need to be filled?
