Youth and Leaders Debate YI02 16.00-17.00 WorkSpace Youth unemployment is an increasingly large-scale, global problem, one which threatens to leave much raw human talent untapped. Young people are in need of support, skills and training to develop innovative thinking and implement their ideas. At the same time, companies and governments throughout the world recognize the importance of innovation for technological advancement and socio-economic development - and are placing ever more value on identifying and supporting talent and innovation. This closing session of the Young Innovators Competition will bring together young people with high-level representatives from industry and government sectors to address these issues through open conversation, sharing individual stories and case studies. How do innovative ideas become success stories, and what are the enabling conditions or defining factors for this to happen? What are the experiences of the competition finalists to date? How can, and do, governments best foster youth innovation, and what is the role of business and the private sector? This session will enable a collaborative exchange of perspectives between youth, industry and government to culminate in the Youth Recommendations for Development. young inovators 77
