7 Wednesday eHealth: Turning Challenges into Opportunities for better Health Services - Sponsored by Uganda WS08 15.45-17.00 Abu Dhabi A Uganda is one of the countries with the highest number of E and mhealth interventions being piloted to help accelerate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The country’s health system is currently in a dire situation with some of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in the world. As such, the existence of a diverse range of E and mhealth interventions presents a great opportunity to significantly remedy this situation by leveraging the power of ICT. This forum therefore will highlight important lessons learned (strengths and gaps) from the deployment and operation of e and mHealth systems. It will provide insight into potential growth and expansion plans for these systems to inform private and government investment. Further to this, critical areas for standardisation to foster interoperability will be highlighted and participants will have the opportunity to establish meaningful collaborations, at an international level (health and communication service providers, government and development partners) in order to position themselves for future work/developments in the area. 72 workshops
