About ITU ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs). We are committed to connecting all the world’s people, wherever they live and whatever their means, striving through our work to protect and support everyone’s fundamental right to communicate. We allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and endeavour to improve affordable access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide. ITU membership spans governments and the ICT industry − in fact, we’re unique among UN agencies in that we have both public and private sector membership. In addition to our 193 Member States, we have over 700 Sector Members and Associates, including ICT regulators, leading academic institutions and private companies. Founded on the principles of international cooperation and cross-sector consensus-building, we provide a global forum for all players in this dynamic, rapidly evolving sector. 21
