– 106 – (3.4 – Other conferences and related matters) c) Resolution 75 of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (Johannesburg, 2008) on ITU-T’s contribution in implementing the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society, and the establishment of a Dedicated Group on Internet-related Public Policy Issues as an integral part of the Council Working Group on World Summit on the Information Society; d) Council Resolutions 1214, 1222 and 1244 related to the work of WG-WSIS, considering a) that ITU has a pivotal role in providing a global perspective in regard to the information society; b) that WG-WSIS has proven itself a successful mechanism for facilitating the input of Member States related to ITU’s role in the implementation of WSIS outcomes as called for by the Plenipotentiary Conference 2006; c) that WG-WSIS recommends that Council consider the possibility of identifying extra-budgetary resources, in addition to regular budgetary resources allocated to the ITU Strategic Plan, in relation to the implementation of WSIS outcomes; d) that PP-06 adopted Resolution 140 (Antalya 2006) on ITU’s role in implementing the outcomes of the WSIS, emphasizing the core competences of ITU in the field of ICTs, namely assistance in bridging the digital divide, international and regional cooperation, radio spectrum management, standards development and the dissemination of information, as crucially important for building the information society; e) that Resolution 140 (Antalya 2006) requested that Council to maintain the Working Group in order to: i) facilitate membership input and guidance on the ITU implementation of relevant WSIS outcomes and ii) elaborate proposals to the Council that may be necessary for adapting ITU to its role in building the information society; f) that Resolution 102 (Rev. Antalya 2006), in its considering, recognizing and emphasizing parts, was inspired by the relevant WSIS outcomes in paragraphs 29-82 of the Tunis Agenda concerning Internet governance; g) that Resolution 102 (Rev. Antalya 2006) invites the Council Working Group on WSIS: – to consider and discuss the activities of the Secretary-General and Directors of the Bureaux in relation to the implementation of Resolution 102 (Rev. Antalya 2006); – to prepare ITU inputs into the activities mentioned in Resolution 102 (Rev. Antalya 2006) as appropriate, having examined the report of Council Working Group on WSIS on developments since PP-06 contained in Council Document C07/21 presented to the 2007 session of the Council and Document C08/50 presented to the 2008 session of the Council,
