Once again, Indonesia reiterates its commitment to support ITU in bridging the digital divide in rapid development of national telecommunication and ICT networks to realize a better world for mankind to live. A better telecommunication and ICT environment would need a multilateral cooperation in the pro-growth approach. This will be complemented with more effective bilateral cooperation, for the benefit of both the developing countries as well as the de-veloped countries. Thank you very much for your kind attention. On the issue of the future of national telecommu-nication and ICT networks that stand on broad-band access, we need a well planned high-capacity national backbone networks to reach the villages and the remotest areas. It is the most effective way in guaranteeing an affordable modern ICT access for the whole population. Indonesia has been involved in many strategic is-sues such as the restructurization of ITU, contrib-uting services as the First Director of the BDT, and persistently opting for the greater assistance for the developing world. It is a two-way strategy, as the as-sistance for the developing countries would guaran-tee a better market for the industrialized countries, and more importantly a better partner to the more developed world. Therefore, Indonesia would like to continue its efforts in achieving the noble goals of ITU and its membership, for the best interests of the developing as well as the advanced members. 105
