Mr Tifatul SEMBIRING Minister, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology It is a great honor for me to be here with you to-day representing Indonesia to deliver briefly a per-spective of the global challenges that ITU Members have to face in developing the ICT sector. Before doing so, let me express my sincere appre-ciation to the International Telecommunication Union under the leadership of Mr. Secretary General for wonderfully preparing this Plenipotentiary Conference. My sincere gratitude also goes to the Government of Mexico for kindly hosting us here in the beautiful city of Guadalajara with the warm welcome of its people. I do believe that these would generate an atmosphere that is conducive for us to exchange views and share experiences, and arrive at crucial policies and decisions for the benefit of ITU Membership and mankind. Indonesia promotes genuine and concrete coopera-tion Your Excellencies, among the developing countries in providing those countries with ample telecommunication and ICT infrastructure. We would enhance the welfare of our populations and foster the socio-economic development of those countries by extending our telecommunication and ICT national network to our most remote and underserved areas, for public communications as well as e-Health and e-Educa-tion.
