Mrs Jasna MATIC Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Serbia as one of the founding members of the International Telecommunication Union wishes to express its appreciation for the leadership role that the ITU has exerted in a continuously chang-ing telecommunication environment worldwide, especially for fostering excellent international co-operation between all Member States of the Union in promoting and harmonizing use of telecommu-nications of all kinds. Government of the Republic of Serbia is committed to the objective of further establishing the ITU as the leading telecommuni-cations organization in the world. Dear Chairperson, In the light of the ITU core values, Serbia is fully engaged at national and international level in the application and diffusion of advanced technologies and services, including e-government, television digitalization process, development of broadband, and hence in the reduction and elimination of the digital divide. Government of the Republic Serbia has for this purpose adopted a strategic document named Digital Agenda of Serbia. Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Directors of Bureaus, Excellencies, Heads of Delegation, Distinguished delegates, Ladies and gentlemen, It is a great pleasure to be with you here in Guadalajara this afternoon. Let me offer my sin-cere Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to inform you that the Republic of Serbia has put for consideration of the Conference amendments to the Resolution 70 ¨Gender mainstreaming in ITU and promotion of gender equality and empower-ment of women through information and commu-nication thanks and appreciation to the Government of technologies¨, where we invite you, aside Mexico for a warm welcome and for the excellent organization of this important Conference. It is also my immense pleasure to extend greetings and salu-tations from the rest, to: • establish and international “Girls in ICT Day” to be held on every fourth Thursday of April, when ICT companies, other companies that have ICT depart-ments, on behalf of the Government and people of Serbia, our delegation and on my personal behalf to the government and people of Mexico, congratu-lating ICT training facilities, universities, research centers, and all ICT-related institutions are invited to organize an open day for girls, and to you on the recent occasion of your National Day, and 200 years of Mexico’s independence. 80
