Monday, 4 October Republic of Korea In closing, I would like to, once again, acknowledge the government of Mexico and the ITU Secretariat for suc-cessfully recent market trends to become more than techno-logical advancement to enrich life experiences, further putting together today’s meaningful event. the progress of mankind and advance culture, the ITU will need to take initiative. The Republic of Korea will also actively participate alongside the ITU. Thank you for listening. Distinguished delegates of member states, Since 1989, the Republic of Korea has maintained close cooperation with the ITU as its Council member, and means to continue its support in order to create and develop a better future. As part of this endeavor, the Republic of Korea hopes to become the host country for the 2014 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference and invites the support of participants here today. I respectfully request distinguished delegates for their active support in selecting the Republic of Korea as the next host for the upcoming Conference. When accorded the honor of hosting the 2014 Plenipotentiary Conference, the Republic of Korea, in a joint effort between the government and the people of Korea, will exert its utmost for the successful out-come of the Conference. In addition, I would like to announce Korea’s candidacy to the ITU Council and ask for your support. Upholding the strong commitment demonstrated since its first Council membership in 1989, the Republic of Korea will strive to promote ITU development as well as the friendly ties and technology cooperation among member countries.
