FA – LI – 23 Original: English For the Federative Republic of Brazil: In signing the Final Acts of the World Radiocommunication Conference (Geneva, 2015), the Brazilian delegation reserves for its Administration the right to take such measures as it might deem necessary to safeguard its interests if any Member State of the Union should in any way fail to respect the conditions specified in the Final Acts, or if the reservation made by any Member State should be prejudicial to the operation of radiocommunication services in Brazil. Furthermore, Brazil reserves the right to make additional specific declarations or reservations at the time of deposit of its notification to the International Telecommunication Union of its consent to be bound by the revisions to the Radio Regulations adopted by the World Radiocommunication Conference (Geneva, 2015). 24 Original: English For Italy and Spain: Thanks to the special protection attributed to the radio astronomy service in the Radio Regulations, cutting-edge researches are being developed in the 76-79 GHz frequency band with major scientific achievements. Taking all this into account, Italy and Spain wish to maintain the essential degree of protection against harmful interferences for the radio astronomy observatories sited in their territories. The 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference will modify the Radio Regulations, introducing a primary allocation to the radiolocation service in the 77.5-78.0 GHz frequency band, limited to short-range radar for ground-based applications, including automotive radars. With the aim to protect the radio astronomy service and the works of the radio astronomy observatories using the 76-79 GHz frequency band, Italy and Spain, will take appropriate measures, as for instance, the establishment of exclusion zones around the radio astronomy observatories.
