ITU-D -FLASH • 2015 DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE Dear ITU-D Members, another year – indeed a defining year, is now coming to a close. I have had the privilege of meeting many of you during the past twelve months, on different occasions. It is always a pleasure to discuss ideas and innovative ways to move forward – together. To maintain our open dialogue is certainly one of my key priorities for 2015 and beyond. I firmly believe that communication is crucial for our success.Over the next months and years, I want to make ITU-D’s results more visible. I want to make sure that we are able to show-case the work we do and the impact we make by giving visibility to our projects and by highlighting our cooperation and achievements. Our success stories can inspire many and we should be proud of our accomplishments. As a first step, I am planning to expand this newsletter next year and to enrich it with new features, to make it more informative, and to keep you up to date on what’s happening. This issue of ITU-D e-Flash features many of the developments in the Telecommunication Development Bureau since our last issue in July: from the International Conference for Small Island Development States, and the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group, to the Study Groups’ meetings, and WTIS 2014.We have also featured upcoming events for the first quarter of 2015, there is more to come in the second quarter, including, the Girls in ICT Day, on 23 April 2014, a global effort to raise awareness on empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider studies and careers in ICTs.I would like to end this note by thanking all of you for your tremendous support to the activities of BDT, and - on a more personal note - to me as Director.I am excited to forge our future together and I am counting on your continued support. With all my best wishes for the Holiday Season and in the New Year.Brahima Sanou ITU-D -FLASH
