Poland is quietly becoming the European centre of excellence for 5G. In two separate announcements this morning, telcos Orange and SK Telecom have revealed progress in 5G and cloud-related tests with Nokia in Poland.
In two separate announcements, Asian telcos KDDI of Japan and China Mobile have presented results from their respective 5G tests of broadcast services. KDDI has showcased real-time “Free-Viewpoint” video over 5G, while China Mobile has demonstrated VR broadcasting on a 5G network slice.
The second edition of the ITU Challenge on AI and Machine Learning in 5G welcomes registrations until 31 August.
ITU has standardized a new technology optimizing the metro transport network to support IMT-2020/5G with carrier-class Ethernet. The new transport technology targets the transport of traffic from distributed and centralized radio access networks, providing the full range of operations, administration and management (OAM) capabilities required by carriers.
