{"id":173,"date":"2026-03-31T13:38:23","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T13:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/rr120\/?page_id=173"},"modified":"2026-05-06T12:27:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T12:27:07","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/rr120\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section>\n        <div class=\"ituContainer grid\">\n                                                <div data-span=\"8\">\n                    <div class=\"ituContainer\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">ITU\u2019s history is\u00a0closely linked\u00a0to the development of radiocommunications.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"ituContainer\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In 1906 the first International Radiotelegraph Conference gathered 29 states in Berlin to sign the\u202f\u00b4International Radiotelegraph Convention\u00b4\u202festablishing\u00a0the principle of compulsory intercommunication between vessels at sea and the land.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"ituContainer\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The annex to this Convention\u00a0contained\u00a0the first regulations governing wireless telegraphy.
