EC-DC Timeline

Dec 1997 - Discussions on EC-DC pilot started. Initial focus was on one or two Africa countries.

Jan 1998 - For WTDC 98, an African micro-business was selected via the Web to participate in an EC-DC pilot.

Feb 1998 - Development of pilot with African merchant.

Mar 1998 - A working EC-DC pilot was launched at WTDC, Malta and later at Africa TELECOM ‘98.

Sep 1998 - ITU approved EC-DC as a global project under BDT with seed funds from the TELECOM Surplus.

May 1999 - Many EC-DC activities world-wide.
