Information about the project
Project title *
Red de Estaciones Meteorológicas - REM (Weather Station Network)
Title acronym
REM
Description *
The government of the province of San Luis implemented a Weather Station Network (Red de Estaciones Meteorológicas - REM) 10 years ago with the aim of improving the adaptation of San Luis to the current climate and the expected changes in the coming decades and to have public information on weather updates, in real time, throughout the province. Other goals include the following: To facilitate the improvement of weather forecasts in the provincial area. To develop information for agricultural and hydrological use. To estimate the provincial wind resource. To create reliable weather statistics to be used in various fields of production and knowledge. To monitor possible variations in the provincial weather. To facilitate the development of climate change scenarios for the coming decades. To facilitate the development of studies on vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. REM consists of automatic stations that make real time broadcasting. Information passes directly without human intervention to the databases to be published on the website and in applications for mobile devices, from where it is freely accessed by any user on the planet. In a world where information is a vital element for development, availability of this public information has brought numerous benefits to the province.
