eNGO

With an objective of making all of the NGOs Digitally Literate we embarked this journey of eNGO Program to help NGOs at the grassroot level through the Internet, those who dedicate themselves to improving our world. Since 2011, DEF, in collaboration with the Public Interest Registry (PIR) (http://pir.org/), the non-profit organization that manages the “.org” top level domain globally, had launched the ‘PIReNGO’ program as a flagship initiative to create a network of legally validated NGOs/CSOs online with IT training and capacities in India, South Asia and Africa. Till November 2015, this initiative has reached out to 6000 NGOs/CSOs in India and South Asia (http://pirengo.org/). As the next wave of development of eNGO Program, Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) has undertaken with the Public Interest Registry (PIR) to bring all the not-for-profit organizations across India and South Asia on new top level domain (TLD) - .NGO which is specially meant for genuine, validated Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to promote Transparency and Governance in the social sector.
