Empowering Young Minds: Navigating the Digital World Safely and Confidently - COP

A Theatrical Journey into Cyber Safety

Description

The theatrical play was a pilot project with four performances at Anatel’s headquarters. The initiative targeted children in economically vulnerable situations, providing cultural inclusion through theatre. A total of 620 students and teachers attended the sessions, learning about online safety engagingly and educationally. This year, Anatel will expand the project by commissioning ten new performances, some of which will occur in other states across Brazil.
This project is an inspiring example of how art and education can promote cultural inclusion and online safety among children and young people. Expanding the project is essential to reaching more people and making a positive difference in society.

Replicability

Since Anatel developed the script, the theatre program for children can be replicated by another theatre group in Brasília again, in other cities, and other institutions.
To be replicable, we must consider different contexts, such as:
1. Adaptation to the target audience: The program must be adapted to the specific needs and characteristics of children in the region.
2. Cultural contextualisation: The program must be contextualised to the local culture, incorporating relevant and meaningful elements to the community.
3. Budget adjustments: The program must be adapted to the available budget, considering the region's financial and material resources.

Possible Locations for Replication
1. Schools: Schools are ideal locations for replicating a theatre program for children, as they already have an established structure and a defined target audience.
2. Community centres can be appropriate locations for replicating a theatre program, as they offer a space for community activities and may have available resources.
3. Libraries: Libraries can be an interesting place to replicate a theatre program, as they already have a collection of books and resources that can be used to inspire theatre activities.
4. Non-governmental organisations (NGOs): NGOs that work with children and the arts can be an appropriate place to replicate a theatre program.
5. Festivals and cultural events: Festivals and cultural events can be interesting places to replicate a theatre program, as they provide an opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Sustainability

Partnerships and Collaborations
1. Partnerships with schools and educational institutions: Partnering with schools and educational institutions can help ensure the program's sustainability.
2. Collaborations with artists and educators: Collaborating with local artists and educators can help ensure the program's quality and relevance.
3. Partnerships with community organisations: Partnering with community organisations can help ensure the program's accessibility and inclusion.
Technologies and Resources
1. Online learning platforms: Using online learning platforms can help ensure program accessibility and flexibility.
2. Digital resources: Using digital resources, such as videos and apps, can help ensure program quality and relevance.
3. Materials and equipment: Access to appropriate materials and equipment can help ensure program quality and safety.

WSIS values promotion

This project is a beacon of hope in line with many WSIS Action Lines. It aims to empower children with digital knowledge, especially about safe internet use and the importance of data privacy. It helps develop digital skills in children, particularly those between the ages of 8 and 14 and those from economically vulnerable backgrounds. It's also essential for fostering digital citizenship. The community effort aims to promote digital citizenship by teaching children about the importance of ethical behaviour online and instilling a sense of shared responsibility. It can also promote WSIS values as below: 1. Access to important information: The project provides essential information about online safety and data privacy. 2. Skills development: The project helps develop digital skills in children. 3. Foster digital citizenship: The project aims to foster digital citizenship by teaching children about the importance of online ethical behaviour, which is the project's key objective. 4. Promote digital inclusion: The project promotes digital inclusion, especially for children from economically vulnerable backgrounds.
