International Scientific Olympiads are prestigious competitions that bring together students from various countries to showcase their skills and knowledge in various fields such as science, mathematics, and in our case, artificial intelligence. These competitions serve as a platform for young talents to challenge themselves, exchange ideas, and gain valuable experience on an international level. SDAIA proceeded to establish the first International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad IAIO with these objectives in mind. This event was held in 2024 and was organized in collaboration with the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) in Slovenia under the auspices of UNESCO. About 90 students from 25 countries as well as 5 observing countries participated in the IAIO, with almost 36 students achieving gold, silver and bronze medals.

The International AI Olympiad is designed to be replicable and will be held in Slovenia in 2025. The Olympiad aims to identify and encourage young talents in Artificial Intelligence, targeting students who have not joined universities yet.
The International AI Olympiad is designed to be sustainable through several key strategies: Replicability: The Olympiad's structure allows it to be easily replicated in different countries and regions, ensuring long- term continuity and global reach. Target group: By focusing on students who have not joined university yet, promoting diversity and collaboration with local and international partners, partnerships with educational institutions, governments, and tech companies provide resources, and expertise, reducing dependency on a single source. Skill Development and Future Careers: IAIO participants gain practical AI skills, increasing their employability and creating a self-sustaining cycle of skilled professionals.
Encourage technological advancement and creativity by recognizing and rewarding innovative projects. Align with global supporting sustainable development goals and promote sustainable development in areas like education. WSIS Prizes help bridge the digital divide by promoting projects that improve access to information and communication technologies for all segments of society. The recognition fosters a spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing, encouraging best practices and innovations to be shared across different sectors.
