Cabo Verde Digital, an initiative under Cape Verde's Ministry of Digital Economy, serves as a pivotal platform for fostering digital entrepreneurship and empowering the youth. Our primary focus lies in cultivating technological skills, nurturing entrepreneurial acumen, fostering critical and creative thinking among participants. Our commitment revolves around equipping the younger generation with the necessary tools to excel, enabling them to make a substantial impact within their communities and globally. Central to our approach is the establishment of connections between learners and our extensive network, fostering a supportive community conducive to growth.Recognizing the absence of abundant natural resources, we strategically leverage the knowledge economy and technological innovation. Our emphasis on these fronts aims not only to address our own resource limitations but also to contribute to the burgeoning tech landscape across Africa and beyond.Launched in 2019 with robust support from the public sector and active engagement within our diverse partner ecosystem, Cabo Verde Digital has significantly impacted thousands of youths since its inception. Among our flagship programs, Kode Verde stands out, providing young change-makers without prior tech skills with comprehensive training in full-stack development and other cutting-edge technologies. This program has underscored the transformative potential of empowering youth through technology.Additionally, our three-month pre-incubation program focuses on nurturing startups by offering financial support and mentorship, setting the stage for entrepreneurial ventures to thrive.Overall, Cabo Verde Digital stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication to empowering the youth, leveraging technology as a catalyst for positive change, and fostering innovation in the digital landscape.

The success of Cabo Verde Digital can be replicated in West African PALOP countries like Guinea-Bissau or São Tomé and Príncipe by adapting the model to local needs, partnering with government bodies and organizations, training local stakeholders, launching in phases, evaluating progress, and fostering community engagement. Customizing the program to suit specific contexts while leveraging partnerships and resources will empower youth, cultivate digital skills, and stimulate entrepreneurship in these countries.
At Cabo Verde Digital, our commitment aligns strongly with the core values of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), focusing on the promotion of these values within our community. Our primary aim is to create a tangible impact on people's lives by harnessing innovation and technology. We empower our youth with a diverse set of tools to positively influence our society. Through our programs, we instill values such as digital inclusion, knowledge sharing, and technological innovation, which are central to WSIS principles. One significant aspect is our provision of direct access to a wide array of mentors, including world-class professionals and members of the Cape Verdean diaspora. This mentorship network facilitates the growth and development of our youth, aligning with the WSIS emphasis on capacity building and knowledge sharing. Our robust partner ecosystem spans both national and international levels. Notably, our collaboration with entities such as the Unicorn Factory, a startup initiative in Portugal funded by the state, underscores our commitment to tech entrepreneurship and startup acceleration. Additionally, our collaboration with Portugal's National Innovation Agency fosters real-time connections between research, academia, and business—a fundamental aspect of WSIS goals promoting innovation and knowledge exchange. In essence, our initiatives at Cabo Verde Digital are deeply rooted in promoting the values upheld by the World Summit on the Information Society. Through our diverse programs, mentorship networks, and strategic partnerships, we actively foster digital inclusion, technological innovation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building within our community, echoing the core principles advocated by WSIS.
