Hackathon of Food Security and Environmental Sustainability

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of King Faisal University (KFU)

Description

The objective of this project is to draw attention to significant parts of daily life while also offering solutions to urgent problems relating to the environment, food, water, and health.

To meet the requirements of the present and future generations in a balanced, adaptable, and integrated manner, that does not threaten human lives, we must increase food security and environmental sustainability. Industry experts meet at our hackathon to discuss technology, environmental sustainability, and food security. Only 22 of the initial 100 teams, including 350 competitors, finished the race. Each team spends three days researching modern technologies and digital solutions in fields including food security and environmental sustainability.
The technology industry expected to contribute $14 trillion to the global economy by 2020 (Accenture).

We believe that the hackathon helps with food provision, gives inventive and creative developers the opportunity to offer solutions while also making a financial contribution, and advances the development of environmentally beneficial strategies, practices, and technologies that will allow us to meet SDGs (goal 3), and achieve (goal 15) on ocean life protection. Furthermore, some solutions may be able to help achieve (goal 11), which calls for more sustainably designed cities (goal 7), besides our needs over time.
