5G has more and more impact on human society. Security issue becomes key point on 5G communication development. The security and trustworthiness on network element is highlighted by industrials and governments. It also requires global co-operation to make international standards and procedures for current and future usage. This project builds test system for 5G network devices security assurance with international standards, SCAS from 3GPP and NESAS from GSMA. It can be used to prove 5G devices in compliance with standards thus to build confidence and security in use of such devices. Since 2018, nine categories of 5G devices has been evaluated, which represents more than 400000 devices deployed all over China, providing security assurance for the world’s largest 5G SA network. The evaluation result is public and accepted by operators and governments. As 5G devices are evaluated with standard security requirement in a standard way, the network could be built more resilient against security attack. What is more, it is benefit to reduce inequality among countries as the result could be used all over the world. The project provides a standard implementation for China's 5G industry, it also can be referred by other countries to build similar test system.

Following the requirements of 3rd Generation Partnership Project(3GPP) SeCurity Assurance Specifications(SCAS), GSM Association (GSMA) Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) and other security assurance, this solution forms a standardized and implementable 5G security assurance. In order to meet the differentiated evaluation needs of equipment and network, two levels of enterprise-level and industry-level test beds are innovatively constructed. China Mobile and CAICT have tested 30 devices of 9 categories. The methods and processes of security assurance which are basically mature, can be widely used in 5G research and development, procurement, construction and other fields of ISPs, equipment manufacturers and users in vertical industries. It can not only provide standards for China's 5G industry, but also be replicated by other countries in the world, so as to promote the international mutual recognition of domestic 5G security assurance and testing reports.
The project formulated a series of evaluation standards, evaluation tools and environments, carries out general, comparable, and measurable technical evaluations for network equipment. It can be used to equipment selection, network security construction and operation of basic telecommunications enterprises. The project provides evaluation verification and guidance for vertical industries with evaluation results.Currently, the world is in the stage of 5G development. China Mobile still needs to deploy 2 million base stations more in near future. It is urgent about 5G security evaluation. With this project, it can reduce the cost investment of equipment manufacturers and operators, and promotes the industry's confidence in use of 5G, that result to the sustainable development of 5G industry.
This project follows WSIS Action Lines to building confidence and security in use of ICTs. With this project, a unified 5G security assurance system is established. It provides standards for the security evaluation of 5G devices, helps foreign companies to enter China market, and further promotes international cooperation in 5G construction. At the same time, the security assurance system provides key security risk references and countermeasures for industrials, that provides security for the network which can be used in more than 6000 vertical cases. It can promote robustness of 5G industry development. The security assurance system improves the security of 5G system as a whole, ensuring the security of the country's critical infrastructure and social stability.
