Due to the importance of recyclable waste segregation in environmental protection and reduce urban management costs, in collaboration with waste management organization of Mashhad municipality and private sector, ICT organization of Mashhad municipality designed and developed SIMAP mobile application . This application helps people to facilitate waste segregation and send their collection request through mobile application. Based on obtained statistics, use of this software has doubled the recycled and separated waste in the city after one year. Therefore it's worth mentioning that before implementation of SIMAP app about 11% of collected waste in the city of Mashhad was recycled and this amount increased to 20% after about one year.

It's possible to replicate this project in all over the country and all cities. By using smart phones all citizens will be able to use this mobile app or similar application to sort and separate recyclable wastes.

“Simap" mobile app is aimed at better protecting environment by forming a sustainable public-private-people partnership to increase the segregation of recyclable waste. Separating recyclable waste and preventing its burial will preserve the land and have a significant impact on improving the environment of humans and animals.
