As Turkcell, we implemented Recyle into the Education project throughout Turkey in collaboration with TüBISAD (Informatics Industry Association). Electronic waste will be disposed at recycle boxes in all 1335 Turkcell stores, and the income from these products was donated to the Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV) for Quality of Education until September. Since September this income is started to be donated as sholar to the children of health workers, who are passed away during global pandemic. Turkcell is the first company in Turkey who feels responsible for the techno-waste of its customers. We started a technological waste recycling campaign. We opened all our stores for techno waste recycling. This year, we collected 6.5 tons (techno wastes belonging to customers, not Turkcell). As Turkcell, we are already recycling our own electronic waste. What is important here, we make a difference by turning this process into a mobilization and we are making able also to measure the amount of electronic waste resting in the drawers of our customers.

In every other country can be replicable.
This project is not a project with big budgets it generates its own budget. Company supports only in awakening awareness side. It is one reason for project's being sustainable. On the other hand according to UN reports, the annual e-waste amount is predicted to be 120 million tons in 2050. The illegal recycling of e-waste also seriously threatens public health. As Turkcell, we are already recycling our own e-waste. Now, we improved this project to the public and motivate people to send easily their e-waste to recycling. Thus, thanks to e-waste recycling, we prevent environmental pollution that threatens human health, and protect natural resources by re-use of precious metals from which electronic products are made. By using the income from here for quality of education, we increase the motivation for recycling. So by increasing motivation people start to bring more e-waste to Turkcell stores. It is a circle.
The project is primarily a project developed to achieve several Sustainable Development Goals. First of all, it ensures the involvement of the public for responsible consumption and efficient use of resources. It both takes concrete steps and creates awareness in this regard. It contributes to quality education, which is the 4th SDG, and also offers one of the best examples of partnerships with stakeholders under the 17th SDG; The project, which also supports our state's Zero Waste project, is an good example of cooperation of the private sector with NGO and public. It is the first social responsibility project supported by a telecommunications company for recording e-waste of the public in Turkey.
