Afrocomix is a content hub for all Afrocentric creative work made by Africans on the continent to provide a one stop shop for people all over the world who love African content while focusing on monetization, social integration and fixing the issue of fragmentation among the African creative industry. Since we launched in December 2017, we have been able to source for content from over 50 creatives across the continent and delivered it all over the world. One of our greatest achievements with this app includes publishing the Karmzah comic which has a superhero with cerebral palsy as its star. This is the first superhero ever created with this condition and has generated a lot of conversation about the disabled community which we are proud to pioneer.

Afrocomix is replicable all over the world. The current version of Afrocomix is centred solely on Afrocentric content catering to people of African descent. They can be customised with content that is attractive to different cultures across the world eg manga and anime. The app also has internationally recognised payment systems which make it easier for users to purchase content.
Here at Leti Arts, we take pride in the fact that we are in touch with our culture and draw from other cultures across the continent to create interactive content that changes the negative narrative of Africa. Our flagship project Africa’s Legends which is based on historical and folklore characters from all over Africa, follow an elite group of superheroes who tackle prevalent issues in Africa. This is where Afrocomix was birthed. As we worked on a platform to distribute our content, we realised that other creatives across Africa faced the same issue coupled with monetization and analytic problems. Afrocomix gives other content creators the platform to showcase their work to the world by simply uploading it unto our platform. Once this is done, they earn 70% of the net revenue generated from the sale of their content. It is optimized for reading comics on any device. The problem with payments has also been solved as we have incorporated mobile money, which is used widely across Africa onto the app. That way users who are not conversant with other online payment systems can still get to enjoy Afrocomix. For content providers, they receive monthly reports with analysis of payment and content that users interact with the most. This gives them an idea of what their fans respond to which will help them better content. We also create a widget for all content providers (deep linking to their content) which can be embedded into their websites and social media to display their content to their followers. With our wide array of content, everyone is sure to find something they like on Afrocomix. Content cuts across short animations, illustrations and comics with genres such as kids, action, graphic novels, contemporary arts and fantasy. One thing to take note of is that all these are created by creatives who live and work in Africa.
Through Afrocomix, Leti arts has created a people-centred product that caters to the needs of Afrocentric content lovers. For the longest time, lovers of Afrocentric content have had to spend time surfing the internet to find the content they love and can relate to. Even when they did find it, it was more often not an accurate representation of the motherland. The app has created a space where such content is accessible and knowledge about our culture can also be shared through the comics, games and illustration.
