The MIV with School is a program that Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) collaborated with the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) where train the trainer workshops on the positive, safe and ethical internet usage are organized for teachers in primary and secondary schools, head of schools and MOE officials. It supports the Malaysian education system and leverage on ICTs to scale up quality of learning across Malaysia and achieve the Government’s aspiration of producing Malaysian students for the requirements of the 21st century.This program is implemented at national level and from its first inception in 2016 until November 2019, 1,611 participants have participated as MIV volunteers and 487 MOE officials attended the MIV with School Workshops. In total, 2,098 people have been trained and benefited from these workshops that were conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, Penang, Kedah, Sarawak, Johor, Sabah and Kelantan.In total, the MIV volunteers have successfully reached out to 198,606 audiences including students, parents, colleague, families and local communities through various platforms, programs and social network sites to reach to a wider audience. This program aspires to develop digital champions, increase digital literacy, promote digital inclusion and produce digital citizens who will use ICTs at the optimum level.

Conduct train the trainer sessions to all the teachers, head of schools and Ministry of Education officials at district and state level.The same knowledge and skills could be shared with the school communities at the the district and state level as well as the local communities living within the vicinity of the selected schools. The MIV volunteers could be recruited and selected among the school teachers and head of schools from both primary and secondary schools.The information sharing could be done through various platforms, programs and activities - offline and online.
This program is sustainable as there are 19,695 schools in Malaysia. The Ministry of Education in Malaysia will continue to encourage the positive use of ICTs among children, youth , adults(teachers & parents) as knowledge on ICTs are crucial in order to participate and be competitive in the digital world. Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) together with the Ministry of Education (MOE) will continue to enhance and inculcate the culture of positive, safe and responsible use of ICTs among the public especially school children in Malaysia. At the same time, the skills will enable the school children to be vigilant and secured online.This will enable the school children to have good quality education, access to information & knowledge, healthy living, enhance digital literacy, promote digital inclusion and develop digital citizens.
Through MIV with School, school teachers, head of schools and principals learnt about the concepts of media literacy and Digital Citizenship and were encouraged to share the acquired skills and knowledge to the school community, including students, teaching staff, counselors, administrative staff, general workers and local community. The trained teachers, head of schools and principals, in this regard are part of the MIV resource pool. In addition, MOE officials are also roped in the training as participants to expose them and increase their understanding on the importance of child online protection, media literacy and Digital Citizenship in achieving the government’s ICT aspiration. MIV with School also seeks to raise awareness among school teachers, head of schools and principals on ICT optimization in education, Internet safety, Internet and health as well as Cyber-crimes. The program is in collaboration with other government agencies such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Royal Malaysian Police. The knowledge and skills acquired from this program will assist the community to utilize the ICTs positively, safely, responsibly and ensure that they are wary of their online security and will be able to enjoy the benefits of ICTs and understanding the associated risks. This will allow them to have access to information and knowledge as well as build confidence in them in using ICTs.
