Description

Gedaref Digital City (GDCO) is civil society Organization in Sudan. GDCO was founded and supported with more than 750 computers by Eindhoven Digital City (DSE) and many ICT projects were developed. GDCO is part of the Telecentre movement where ICT is used for community development. Telecentres overcome barriers that limit the implementation of the sustainable development goals. Telecentres reduce the impact of poverty, empowering women through ICT and include the excluded specially people.. Telecentres are strong tools for eradication of the resources of illiteracy and improve the quality of inclusive education @ reduced costs through ICT. Also, is a member of knowledge network for marginalized, under served and disadvantage communities in the Economy and Social Committee for West Asia (UN-ESCWA). GDCO is partner with ITU in iwrite4wsis initiative.
DSE donated around 750 computers and more than 7 projects were established including e-Agriculture, e-Learning, e-Health, connected the unconnected specially people with disability, out schoolchildren, women, street boys, training and capacity building and more. The objectives of the project are Agriculture development through ICT specially GIS & GPS and monitor the agricultural resources from being depleted or eradicated. Help farmers to manage their farms from any place through satellites. Development of national and global online crop and animal market portal even for illiterates or low computer skills farmers to help them sell their products
Many achievements including empower GMAC to improve Gedaref State Natural Resources e-Map. Ease transaction between GMAC and farmers. More than 50 agricultural reports
