Linguoo is a global community of readers with a cause, to make more accessible the web for the visually impaired but also for everybody. At Linguoo, every volunteer voices a book, becoming one book forever, like in the novel Farenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury). This task can be done from any part of the world, just with a smartphone and internet. After a book is recorded, it´s uploaded to a crowdsourced platform that can be listened to with an app, anywhere. And all together we are helping to create the biggest audiotheque in the world for the visually impaired and dyslexic people. If an audiobook is created, we donate one audiobook to more than 12 ONGs related to blindness and dyslexia. We are also working with artificial intelligence using machine learning and all the audios and voice data we gathered to improve speech tech and voice recognition in Spanish (there is a lack of corpus of audio data to train voice recognition models for Spanish). Some technologies we can create are related to diagnostic of depression through the voice, improve prosodia recognition, create voice biometric recognition, and more. For this purpose, Linguoo is creating diverse corpus to foster new technologies and products related to speech tech and natural language processing. We have recorded more than 6.000 books, tales for kids and online articles, one piece at a time, creating an online platform for the best ideas of the world that can be listened to, for all the humankind. Today, we’ve got almost 65.000 listeners from 117 countries that listen to our readers and our community has more than 500 readers from all the world. Finally, we are working to recover the stories of the indigenous communities of LATAM making available to the world and to universities and researchers that look for the heritage of the aboriginal people. We want to empower the small voices of the world, to create the biggest audiotheque with the best ideas of the humankind that can be listened to, anywhere, anytime, and to inspire to all the humankind.

We are like Wikipedia, a decentralized community, that can be replicated wherever a volunteer, reader or editor wants to record a book to help visually impaired people to listen to the same information as people that can see. We just need an internet connection, a voice and time. We work with volunteers from all over the world and with ONGs related to blindness and dyslexia, that integrates our community creating new groups of readers, editors or volunteers to create Linguoo wherever they are, creating a network that surpasses our project. Finally, we also work with universities and schools related to communications and journalism, where the students can help in many ways to improve our message, create new kinds of audio content or editing content, while learning about online platforms and digital channels.
Linguoo is a digital project and does not contaminate the enviroment.
The project fully meets a number of SDGs and Action Lines by providing the international community with quality information, promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, creating employment for women (mostly mothers that can´t work outside their homes), older people (that need a new income and wants to read tales), paraplegic people, and unemployed, providing the opportunity to work through the gig-economy and online tools and to study and develop inclusive societies, recovering the aboriginal heritage, foster innovation using AI, and so on. (SDGs C3, C8 C10,C7 and C9).
