CARE@HOME is about enabling empowerment,wellness and social care servicesto the home of the elderly through interactivemultimedia SmartTV. The ideais to enclose the social support systemfor the elderly and carry this as a personalizedcommunication and servicechannel in their home.CARE@HOME involve continuous, automaticand remote monitoring (e.g. bymobile phone/wireless / fixed sensors)of real time emergencies and lifestylechanges over time in order to managethe risks associated with independentliving. CARE@HOME enables such careservices to the home environment withoutthe prohibitive costs of retrofittingexisting dwellings.The progress beyond to the state-ofthe-artof CARE@HOME project is thatrelevant technology regarding sensors,wireless networks, communication andmultimedia is to be integrated in communitydriven products and services forthe elderly, which are highly personalizedand easy-to-use. Because of theeasy accessible ‘design platform’ ofPhilips SmartTV, development new applicationsand services are in reach ofmany organizations and companies
