We ensure that the unemployed youth in tourism villages have sufficient knowledge related to digital marketing through trainings that we conduct. We are expecting that after the training program, the youths can contribute more to implement their knowledge to empower the tourism village around. Pandoo develops and arranges curriculums and module that will be used further to train the youths. The curriculums and modules could be replicated later so it can be implemented in other tourism villages by the trained youths. However, due to characteristic differences in different regions, assessment is still needed to adjust the curriculum and module so it will suit as needed in the certain region.According to the Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, there are 2,000 tourism villages in Indonesia that have the potential to be developed. It means, this project has a large opportunity to be replicated in many rural areas in Indonesia.
After we train the youth, they will be connected to the tourism-based business and these skilled-youth will be provided a digital platform to connect with the mentors and the other youths in their region, which mean they will keep learning through the digital platform. Each youth who will become a digital expert will teach the younger and those younger people who have become the digital marketing expert will help the other tourism-based business in their area and this circle will continue growing. If there is no youth in one of the region, we will empower the youth from other region to help. For example, if no youth are available in region A, the other youth from the other region (B or C) can work remotely to help the business in the region A. In addition, we have a business model that allows us to get profits from clients, external parties who funds digital marketing training in their tourism villages. Because we believe, to provide maximum benefit not always by making this program accessible for free. We ensure that the profit we get will make this program more sustainable. This kind of business model provides benefits for both parties. For us, the profit that we get will guarantee the continuity of this project because of the availability of funds for operations. As for the clients, this will be an investment for them. This will be different if the program is free, there is no sense of belonging that participants get if this is just a free program. Because they have invested something in this program, their willingness of participating in the program is expected to increase.
The vision, mission and usefulness that Pandoo wants to provide are in line with the values expected by WSIS. In carrying out its activities, we (who are fully managed by young people) will collaborate with all interested stakeholders to work together in creating a community that is ready to shift themselves into the communities that utilize all information technology resources to increase their capacity, which is known as digital community. In this case, it is digital marketing literacy skills to support the marketing process of tourism villages that will later become the strength of our country, Indonesia. So far, we have collaborated with many parties to work with us. One of them is the Bogor City Government that allowed us to run a pilot for this project there. In this area, we will train young people about digital marketing so that they can help tourism villages in Bogor to develop through a good marketing process. Not stopping there, we also bridging them to tourism village managers so that after joining this program, they could enter the professional stage with the skills they had. This will also indirectly help the government in overcoming unemployment by training the workforce with digital marketing skills that are much needed by the labor market nowadays. In the future, in carrying out this project, we will promote the values of WSIS by showing to all relevant stakeholders that maximizing the use of information technology carried out with the synergy of all parties can help resolve the problems around. Hopefully in the future, many parties will see this project and finally make this project a benchmark to solve other problems assuming that information technology can help solve their problems.
