Real-Time Interactive Tajweed E-learning Platform for Non-Arab speakers

Description

This project has produced The Graphical User Interface (GUI) as a supporting platform to help non-Arab Muslim adults and children to learn the basic Quranic letters pronunciation before they can learn how to recite the Quran wholly. This platform introduce a Quranic learning system based on the engineering perspective, where by the audio signal from the experts was used as a reference model for the user to check the percentage of accuracy of their pronunciation. The system reads the database which consist of the collection of correct pronunciations from the experts and the user will need to select their category (adult or child) and the respective pronunciation of alphabet to be recited. The algorithm was developed to record, analyze and provide response to the user. The input to the system is the audio signal from the user while the output is the percentage of accuracy of the user’s pronunciation as compared to the expert’s data. The result shows that the developed GUI can record, process, and produce the outcomes of the pronunciation in the form of percentage (%) of accuracy, as compared to the reference model of the experts for both male adult and child category.

Replicability

Yes. The algorithms will mostly remain similar except if the new method is used then some parts of the algorithms need modification.

Sustainability

1. There are many children and adult Muslims who are learning Quran by many means. Also, the new reverted Muslims also is increasing in time. Therefore this platform is very much relevant as the interactive platform for Quranic education especially for Non-Arab speakers who are difference in producing their language in speech, which the demand will never last.

2. This product is potentially to be commercialize and attract more users/consumer especially Muslim community to use it.

3. The specialty and uniqueness of this GUI is that its allow users to monitor and compare the audio signal of the recited pronunciation and check the percentage of correctness of their pronunciation as compared to the experts.

WSIS values promotion

The developed interactive platform can be used to solve the drawbacks of the existing environment of the Quranic education such as: 1. The shortcoming of conventional method of teaching Al-Quran which includes the time limitation, depend too much on the availability of the teacher and the lack of experts nowadays. 2. The learning mainly based on face-to-face observation and through listening process, which will be different from one expert to another. 3. The invention of this program could support and help Muslims children and adult as well as new Muslims to learn a proper Quranic pronunciation easily and efficiently as its emphasized more on analysis on the generated sound signal. 4. This platform promote the use of the technology wisely in Quranic teaching and learning from small age. It is hoped that Non-Arab speakers also can recite Quran outstandingly in short time with flexible efforts as compared to those Arab natives.
