The open data portal of the City of Buenos Aires is based on an Open Code, so everyone can replicate it (More information at https://github.com/gcba-odin/odin).Likewise, the Open Data Policy is published on the web, so any country, city or organization that wants to initiate a similar policy can access that documentation and reuse it. (Information available at https://datosgcba.github.io/guia-datos/)
This project is sustainable because publishing all the data at the portal, it is friendly with the environment. Also, it is a policy that has been developing for many years which shows the commitment of the administration to continue making public all the actions and expenditures of the public sector, strengthening accountability and empowering citizens.
In a context in which data is of vital importance in our daily lives, access to reliable information becomes a fundamental human right for the full development of human beings. Buenos Aires Data promotes access to information in reusable formats, openness, participation and collaboration, thus resulting in more empowered citizens, public policies based on evidence and strengthened democratic institutions. All these are in line with the WSIS values. In order to continue consolidating the openness and transparency of the government, the opening of data is an essential policy for the 21st Century.
