PTA has set up a ‘Smart Pakistan m-Lab’, initially at its headquarters to provide business, mentoring and coaching services for female mobile application developers and women entrepreneurs. It will also provide start up, acceleration and launch services to the female developers.More than 100 female master trainers have been trained from distant areas like KPK and Northern areas. These trainers are tasked to replicate the training in their respective regions. Top 3 female participants with the innovative ideas were placed in PTA’s Smart Pakistan m-lab for mentoring and free of charge mentoring services are provided to all other existing and potential female women entrepreneurs remotely through online mechanismA specific platform for female local developers is now dedicated at Smart Pakistan platform. The basic purpose is to provide them a ‘one stop window’ to promote their useful self created android applications and to contribute into transformation of Pakistan into a digital societyA one stop repository of all mobile applications available for women to caters their needs is functional. The applications are listed by categories such as health, education etc. Women composition of 33 million 3G/4G subscribers can now go to only window platform to get benefits of all local and internationally developed apps In collaboration with the World Bank and KPK government, a mobile app competition was conducted in April 2016. The female winner of the competition is placed at PTA's Smart Pakistan m-lab for free of cost mentoring and scale up services.PTA's Smart Pakistan team in Phase II starting from Sept/Oct will travelling to far-flung areas of Pakistan to encourage women to contribute their role in the technological innovation by transforming their ideas into the said applications. Partnership is developed with renowned universities and technical institutes in those areas in this regard.
