IT for Change is an NGO seeking to promote innovative and effective use of information and communication technologies in order to promote socio-economic change in the global south. In collaboration with Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan and with the support of UN Women’s Fund for Gender Equality, the project 'Making Women's Voices and Votes Count' (MWVVC) has helped rural and socially excluded women participate effectively in political processes through the use of techno-social innovations. The main objectives of this initiative were to:1. Increase networking among elected women representatives and their active participation along with women's groups in gender-responsive governance.2. Increase realization of claims and entitlements by women in Gujarat and Karnataka.3. Enable advocacy and campaigns at local and institutional levels to shift local public discourse towards gender equality. To achieve this, the project has relied on technological solutions such as: Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform for telephone information exchange among elected women and women’s collectives; media- based learning for elected women; a Geographic Information System (GIS) to map issues of community concern; and a network of women-owned digitally enabled centers where marginalized women can access information and claim entitlements."
