Description

WAAW (Working to Advance Science and Technology Education for African Women) Foundation is an international non-profit organization founded in 2007. Headquartered in Lagos Nigeria with an operational office in Wylie, Texas.

To increase the pipeline of African women entering into Science and Technology fields and ensure they are engaged in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship to benefit Africa.

Replicability

Yes. Our model is to implement test cases for our programs and develop processes, blue prints and learning outcomes before replicating and scaling.
1. The college to secondary outreach and mentoring program has been replicated in 17 college chapters across 10 African countries.
2. WAAW has scaled its after school STEM clubs to 5 secondary schools in Nigeria and working to scale to over 150 schools over the next 3 years in partnership with the Ministries of Education, State Governments and the Murtala Mohammed Foundation.
3. The residential summer camps has been replicated in Nairobi Kenya, Abuja Nigeria and Pretoria South Africa. WAAW recently began talks to work with the Governments in Kenya and South Africa to ensure the sustainability of the camps.
4. WAAW is also in discussions to scale the STEM teacher training workshop in partnership with the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences Cameroon and Tech Women Cameroon to impact over 2000+ teachers.
