GGateway is the first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) social enterprise in Palestine and started as an initiative in 2012 inside the United Nations for Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). GGateway became an independent non-profit entity in 2016 with a hybrid model between business and social.ICT graduates’ unemployment rate reached around 70% where around 1,000 ICT recent graduates per year in Gaza, Palestine. Furthermore, ICT employers face challenges in recruiting successfully ICT qualified graduates. The situation for women is more complicated: female participation in Gaza job market doesn’t exceed 11%. GGateway is an IT Social Enterprise, conceived in 2013, which works as a bridge between IT recent graduates and private sector employability offering the first commercially sustainable end-to-end solution to the ICT local business growth challenges. GGateway major objective is to create new job opportunities through hiring recent graduates, especially women, to outsource IT services or freelancing opportunities in Gaza ICT areas yet uncovered by the local market, while integrating skills and competency by capacity building during their daily work.
