Replicability

Since 2016, the Ministry, in cooperation with NGOs, organizes trainings for the re-qualification of women in the field of ICT. Through the last training cycle, realized in 2017/2018, over 250 women passed through, which they gained basic knowledge from JavaScript, HTML, Phyton, C ++ programming languages.

Sustainability

Since most of the registered women were unemployed, aged 20 to 40, and more than half of them with high qualifications, these data also reflect on new labor market needs in the Republic of Serbia, and provide additional indicators for the continuation of the program. A large number of women received the possibility of professional practice in one of those firms after completing their training.

WSIS values promotion

Since we are entering a new era of information society and expanded human communication, the Ministry is implementing educational and promotional projects that should contribute to the development of digital literacy, digital competencies and digital security culture among all citizens of the Republic of Serbia. According to data from 2016, 58% of graduated students are women, but men are dominant in the field of information and communication technologies, which most closely relate to future affairs and the most promising professions. In the Republic of Serbia 34.2% of the age of 15 or more is computer literate. ICT is the basic tool for the social and economic development of women and girls. Information and communication technologies can provide women with advanced education and vocational training, raise their digital literacy. The ICT sector needs new talents, a wide range of organizations and companies have concluded that the increase in the number of women positively affects financial changes. In order to encourage women to engage professionally in ICT, in line with the personnel development measures defined in the Strategy for the Development of the Information Technology Industry, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications has launched a program for retraining and additional training of women in ICT. These programs add to the raising of staff and the development of the ICT industry, as well as the economic and social empowerment of women.
