WSIS Prizes Contest 2023 Nominee

Burundi Innovation Hub (BiHUB)

Description

Burundi Innovation Hub (BiHUB) is a first techpreneur hub initiative in Burundi whose aim is to bring together young talent in an environment conducive to innovation through capacity building, collaboration, the use of new technologies, the culture of entrepreneurship and the sense of service towards the society. Our target audience are youth, girls and Women . We currently run 4 programs and one of the them is ICT CULTURE designed to promote digital literacy and tech skills to youth, women and girls. This will help us fill the gap in the education system in Burundi and bridge the digital literacy gap. Burundian Education curriculum is not designed with coding literacy in mind, with students being trained as users rather than creators of digital technology.
