Telessaúde Santa Catarina is part of The National Telehealth Brazil Networks Program, which was established through the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health nº 35 of January 2007, and is coordinated by the Secretariats of Labor and Health Education (SGTES) and Health Care (SAS).It enables the strengthening and improvement of the quality of primary care services in the Unified Health System (SUS), integrating Permanent Health Education (EPS) and health care support through information and communication technologies (ICT) tools and technologies. It is constituted by State, Intermunicipal and Regional Nuclei, that develop and offer specific services for professionals and workers of the SUS.This Program was created in the Ministry of Health in 2007, but in 2005 the State Department of Health (SES-SC) had already begun a proposal for distance examinations with the offer of expert reports, through a Program State called Telemedicine. His proposal was to facilitate the citizen's access to medical examinations of medium and high complexity, starting his pilot with the emission of remote reports for Electrocardiograms and laboratory tests. A digital network was also implemented to facilitate intra-hospital communication for imaging services such as ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and X-ray. The technological structure of the Telemedicine system was developed by INCoD.
