Lamba Labs Beirut Hackerspace is a community of makers who like to share their skills with like minded people. They also work for the advancement of the makers community by promoting inititatives that teach skills and build potential careers. One such initiative was developed by Eng. Alaa Salam in January 2018 called the Tinker Bellas Initiative. It aims at the inclusion of more women into the fields of STEM especially from under represented communitites. This program is targeted at young ladies between the ages of 12 and 25 years. It started out by hosting ladies nights (build nights where small workshop sessions are given concerning coding and electronics, and leading local female figures who are well accomplished in fields of STEM are hosted as speakers), workshops in IoT (standalone sessions or within other events like Pi Celebration Party and International Women's Day), and intro sessions to coding, electronics and robotics (in collaboration with various entitites like Girls Got IT, Teens Who Code, Cherpa.io, GDG Coast Lebanon and Google Women Techmakers Lebanon). Now the Tinker Bellas inititative is working on developing a school curriculum to teach ICT skills and coding to underprivileged and refugee kids.
