Project Details

MUJERES CONECTADAS

Description

Since 2017 Tigo Guatemala and Sheva have worked together to execute the program Mujeres Conectadas, where we have trained more than 20,800 girls and women in Guatemala. Through our face-to-face trainings and free access to an educative micro-learning platform, women learn how to take advantage of tools found in mobile technology to better their personal and professional lives. Our goal is to reduce the digital gender gap found in the mobile world and help women be prepared for the digitalized world. Our program has been nominated for two consecutive years by the UN Equals Awards, as one of the top 15 projects in the world working in gender equality in a digital world.

Sustainability

The users who are being trained, become data users to Telecom companies and increase their data usage, therefore there is a return of investment of girls being trained. It is good business for telecom companies plus a good responsibility program.

WSIS values promotion

We believe mobile technology (smartphone and Internet) gives access to a universe of information. With access to information, women can gain freedom by being able to make informed decisions. Our program´s goal is for everyone to have equal access to information and knowledge, enabling women and girls achieve their full potential and impact not only their lives, but their family´s lives and their community.
