Smartbus is an initiative created by young people from Peru, who aim to modernize public transportation in the city of Arequipa. These young people have gathered their knowledge in computer science, electronics and business to give information trying to create an intelligent bus with different functions. This is a new venture that was launched a few months ago, but that has strong expectations and projections to scale to higher platforms.
What they seek is to help reduce the technological gap by transforming the buses currently in circulation into smart buses. While the bus is circulating, a mobile application connected to speakers informs passengers about the whereabouts and places of interest they are passing through. Despite being a relatively new venture, they have already been selected as a winning project of seed capital of 50 thousand soles in the innovation contest of the Innovate Peru Program, and also have the support of Jaku, the UNSA business incubator and Startup Peru.
