WSIS Prizes Contest 2019 Nominee

Hezaar Afsaan

Asia's largest interactive library

Description

Our goals in this project are to increase the reading time per person of the country and the culture of study from the age of childhood and adolescence, as well as to create the same access for all types of society to a variety of educational, scientific and entertainment books for free.
Because reading time per person in Iran is very low and there is no equal education for everyone.
That's why we built an electronic library that motivates our users to read more books by providing interactive books, as well as rating the user's reading time and sending awards such as a tablet and book collection to top performers on the first day of each month.
We also select the best books in various fields of science, education and entertainment and make their interactive version available for free in our library to everyone have equal access to information, fun and knowledge.
The cost of producing books, buying prizes and purchasing licenses was originally provided through our personal capital, but now people are also helping us by donating.
As our library is become more famous, many of people are now helping us achieve our goals. For example, the Mayor of Isfahan has helped us to introduce this program to all the people of the city, or recently a German author has been willing to give his books licences to Iran for free and in exchange we produce interactive version of his books in different languages.
All these and the fact that we increased reading time per person of our users by 400% in last 10 months, gives us energy and confidence to do more!

Sustainability

Because of the nature of the project, it is sustainable. Interactive books that have the content of this program do not have an expire date, and the soul of interest in reading and learning new things has always existed in humankind. Over time, the speed of producing new content in this project may change, but it will not stop.

WSIS values promotion

Our project provides the access of hundreds of interactive and audio books for everyone and for free, in addition to contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and information. Some of our books have local dialects and introduce the culture and dialects of different parts of the country to others. Given the specific circumstances of Iran, we have managed to do a lot of cultural work through this project and try to institutionalize the parameters that make a conscious, dynamic and progressive society. Our goal is to educate a generation that has the knowledge and awareness of themselves, the community, and the environment and are responsible for the future of our society and the international community; A generation that cares humanity and nature.
