A Royal Grant of USD 51 million was issued by His Majesty the Sultan in support of e.Oman strategy, bestowing free PCs targeting specific segments in the Omani society aiming at making PCs ownership affordable by subsidizing their cost and providing an added value training courses. Since started, more than 115,000 PCs and 75,000 free internet modems have been provided to families, students and teachers. As a result, national PC penetration rate increased to (> 66 % in 2013) versus (< 20% in 2003). Also, the internet penetration had increased to more than 70%.
